New world record in Shivari
Ivan Nedialkov broke for seventh time his own record in Shivari. He broke 90 concrete blocks for 6 seconds and 86 hundreds at a show in Lovech. His last record at Smolensk in 2003, was 154 blocks for 10.7 seconds. Bulgaria is not in the list for Google Checkout
I use a lot of google services but it’s true I haven’t used Google Checkout till now. If you are from Bulgaria and try to buy something from it you will wonder why Bulgaria is not in the drop-down list. There are so many countries in that list and I was ashamed for the absence of my own. If you try to use google services like Google Apps for Your Domain, you have option to buy a custom domain through google checkout or to buy it on your own. It wasn’t a problem to set it separately but I decided to look further why google has decided not to support our market. Read the rest of this entry »

Global Warming - let’s try
The planet earth is deceased and we are the reason of that. The man kind with its ambitions. I wonder who will get out stronger the man or his goals? The movie below made me realize that I have to sacrifice something from me. I have to try to make the planet a better place. And it shouldn’t be just for a short time. We all have to change our minds and the least we can do is to try by our own efforts. We have this planet as a gift, but we owe it to our children.
watch this movie:
YouTube - A Global Warning…
Would you agree to be created a world wide Foundation, which to rebel on all human actions causing the Earth to suffer? Even if this foundation has to slow down the progress? But think about, isn’t it time to change the direction of this progress?

Royale Noir - a mystery XP theme by Microsoft
Since a friend (sylverstyle) showed me this XP Theme I felt in love with it from first sight. The original article is from Long Zheng and the man who has digged it out from the Microsoft`s archives is Channel9 member W3bbo . During Royale`s development (the XP Media Center theme), the graphic artists also produced a black version of the skin. The result is named `Royale Noir`. If Royale was a day, Royale Noir is the night.
Royale Noir is verified-by-Microsoft XP theme. However being incomplete, it is not recommended for the general consumers and that`s why it is dusted in the Microsoft`s archive. You can download the theme from the Long Zheng`s article or from here.
To install the XP theme extract files to `c:\windows\resources\themes\royale noir` and double click on `luna.msstyles`. Select `Noir` from color scheme. I prefer from the Advanced settings to decrease the title bar height from 10 to 8, too.
A nice desktop for this theme could be the Hero`s one or any dark one.

Online Identity, what is the choice?
The identity is an important part of ourselves. That`s why it is a favorite topic in science-fiction. The Online Identity is not like the identity in real life. In reality we have faces, we have finger tips, we can be at one place at a time and other things that can identify us. That`s why it is harder to hide who are you in reality. On the other hand, online you can share knowledge, joy and love with people all over the world and still be hidden.
There are a few ways of online identification today, but more interesting is what`s coming on in the near future. Nowadays we have to make a lot of accounts for services we want to use or just to try. Most of you probably have experienced that on some places if you want to leave a comment you should register first. Due to this big mess with so many accounts most of the users prefer to use the same information (ex. passwords). Then what happens when he decides his account is no more secured, he goes and change his password all over the places he has registered? Now you see what is just one of the problems of nowadays online identification systems.
What should we expect for the future? Most of the biggest companies (Microsoft, Google, Yahoo) have already thought about the topic and have their decisions. The good thing is that the Open Source community has ideas, too. Read the rest of this entry »

Google Browser Sync for Firefox
One browser, many workstations. This is one step further to the google`s dream to create an online OS. Google Browser Sync is a Firefox extension which will help you a lot if you are working on a few computers. Probably some users would like to save their home browser away from the working atmosphere and the way the browser looks in their offices.
In fact it`s not only a matter of a style. This extension can save cookies, passwords, bookmarks, history, tab and windows. All this content could be encrypted, too. To use the extension you should have a gmail account as it`s google official service and uses your account to save the data.
This service is useful when you reinstall your OS or when you use your home and office browser for identical services. When I used to read RSS feeds from a Firefox extension the worst thing was that as I added new feed I should e-mail the link to myself so I could subscribe to it from the other computer, too. This is an example what a headache could be if you want to synchronize your home and office browser. Afterwards when I started using the Google Reader for RSS feeds, I was reborn but that`s another topic.
So if you already use gmail account and you are not afraid for your privacy, I advise you to try this Firefox extension from Google. But be careful. You should use this extension only on not shared computers.

Sony uses Open Source to advertise
A month ago a Sony advertisement campaign in Bulgaria just started. It`s all about artlikenoother.com and how Sony used Splatter (http://stamen.com/projects/splatter), available under a liberal Creative Commons license. As nowhere on the website is mentioned that they are using Splatter, I wrote a mail to “info(at)stamen.com” and “cic.bulgaria(at)eu.sony.com” asking them is it true. Still that question is opened.

Google Reader trends
This night when I opened the google reader a tiny sentence attracted my attention.
“New! See personalized trends for your subscriptions and read items.“
I check it out and I was nicely surprised. Google have added a personal feature at the reader. It`s nice because it somehow gives you a big picture of what you have done. Sometimes you may act and look like a really addicted reader (f.e. me), but after all at the end of the month you can see those desperate moments and have fun.

What else. You have one look evaluation of your feeds and month activity. Yes, you have a tag cloud to water, too. You better see a screenshot how it looks like, and if you like it, go and check it out on your accounts.

Search Wikia - the human element in a search engine
Recently there was a buzz about Wikiasari. Techcrunch wrote an article “Wikia To Launch Search Engine” and provided a screenshot, too. Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, says:

`Google is very good at many types of search, but in many instances it produces nothing but spam and useless crap. Try searching for the term `Tampa hotels`, for example, and you will not get any useful results. Essentially, if you consider one of the basic tasks of a search engine, it is to make a decision: `this page is good, this page sucks.` Computers are notoriously bad at making such judgments, so algorithmic search has to go about it in a roundabout way. But we have a really great method for doing that ourselves. We just look at the page. It usually only takes a second to figure out if the page is good, so the key here is building a community of trust that can do that.

EPIC 2014
EPIC (Evolving Personalized Information Construct) is the single source of information in the future where everyone contributes in some way. By the year 2014 the democratic web society has evolved to its almost final step. Where everyone is able to contribute and consume media.
EPIC 2014 is a short film describing the near future of the global network and internet. The story is told in fascinating way and really make you believe in it. It doesn’t take part, but just predicting facts. In the near future it forecast the end of the news agencies. The news will be gathered from machines which obey on the people driven engine. In fact the news will be customized per user.
In one of the interviews “Change Media” of Richard Edelman (President & CEO of Edelman Advertising agency) he describes the new era in media distribution. Television is the fourth most preferred activity to teens behind surfing the web, talking to friends and going to cinema, wasn’t so five years ago. It was the most. He describes how newspapers are becoming more and more read in their online versions.
Now, you tell me. Do you believe in the near future you saw, or you have your own version?
